The latest entrant in the enterprise mobility scene is the mBaaS solution. And I would rather define them as the new-generation light weight mobile middleware solutions. Not that complicated right? But trust me; they perform some complex tasks so that the mobile apps render superior and consistent user experience.
If you sit back and analyze, enterprise mobility not only exposes corporate data on mobile devices, but also the underlying line of business systems too. We have seen them all from EAIs to SOAs to ESBs to iPaaS that enable secure data and file transfer among connected devices. mBaaS solutions function in a similar fashion to mediate secure and private data exchange between mobile devices and enterprise backend systems.
So, here a list of key features that make mBaaS solutions the darling of enterprises:
- User Management
- User Authentication
- Data Storage – structured, unstructured and semi-structured
- Location Services
- Social integration
- Messaging – push notifications, SMS, Email
- Most important – a host of pre-built components and APIs for integrations
However, this discussion would be incomplete without discussing the different types of mBaaS technologies – public, hybrid and private. With each one coming with their own set of pros and cons, it is very evident that enterprises would be biased towards private mBaaS technologies for better security reasons.
What do you think is the most attractive feature of an mBaaS solution? Leave me your answers.
