A Cincinnati Children’s Hospital wanted to develop nutritional surveys for patients (children) and their parents or guardians in a paper-free electronic format, easing out the process of filling up the responses. The chosen electronic mode was Apple iPad.


How we did it

BTC implemented a powerful and easy survey questionnaire app, which seamlessly synchronized with the Hospital Information System. Data thus gathered could be utilized for analyzing the health status of children that helped in decision-making activities.

The iPad interfaced surveys enhanced real-time supervision of data collection, significantly reducing costs associated with papers and data entry. In addition, the mobile device based survey apparatus enabled encrypted access to critical patient data, improving data security and confidentiality.

Implementation of a mobile hand held device as a mode of data collection has enabled the hospital save hundreds of strenuous person hours being involved in manual data entry, let alone the risks of human errors being associated with it.

The iPad app provides an easy interface that helps collect data about children’s eating habits and preferences. The ease of use for filling in the information is extremely critical here knowing that the primary audience of the app are children during their periodic clinic visits.
